This year’s Act of Worship for Good Friday will be held in St Mary’s, CHESHUNT, EN8 9NH. A lovely church with a good organ which EHCCA last visited a good few years ago. The rehearsal will be at 4.30 and the service at 7.30 p.m. Please wear your usual church’s choir robes if you would like to.
We shall sing the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré. Derek Harrison will direct; Jonathan Eyre will play (organ) – there will be no orchestra this time! IMPORTANT note: we will use the NOVELLO Edition. if you have a copy of that edition that you would like to use, please bring it with you. If it is not that edition, it’s likely that there will be some confusion in rehearsals and performance, so the advice is to use one of our copies. The Requiem music will be interspersed with readings, etc. Our soloists will be: tba (soprano) and Hugh Legg (baritone).
On the previous Saturday (April 12th) there will be a rehearsal in St Mary, STANDON (High St, Standon SG11 1LA); 9.30-11.30 with coffee available from 9.00. If you are able to come, that would be much appreciated – even if you’ve sung it before; or indeed especially if you have because that helps everybody else! Derek will direct that rehearsal. You will be able to take away the hired music (though it must be returned at Cheshunt!).
At Cheshunt, there will be tea, cakes, etc between the rehearsal and the service. We are requesting a donation of £5 to help to defray the costs of this event.
