DATE/VENUE/TIMES: Sunday June 14th 2020; All Saints. Hockerill, Bishops Stortford; Times tbc for the three sessions of Discussion, Rehearsal and Service. Leader/Director: Derek Harrison; Organist: Oliver Bond.
The aim of this event is to consider the service of Evensong. The first session will look at such aspects as its origins and the current context; the particular form of Choral Evensong in the Church of England; the liturgy; etc. The second session will be a rehearsal of the music for the service of Choral Evensong that will follow. Part of the purpose is to help students prepare for Choral Scholarships to their universities/colleges of higher education.
NOTE: there will be no prior rehearsal for this as EHCCA is offering to support the church choir in this initiative rather than it being a purely EHCCA event.
MUSIC: Introit: tbd; Responses: Ayleward; Canticles: Wood in E flat (second setting beginning in 3/4 time); Anthem: tbd. Also to be decided are the psalm(s) and hymns. The choir will robe for this service using what they would normally wear “at home”.
